Discovering the past and looking to the future

Does taking a six year old to Italy to see the wonderful art and history of Florence and Rome influence them and their learning interests?

Here a video of my six year old Elle in 1999 telling me about a dream she had on this trip showing her creative imagination and speaking innocently about her experiences has been uncovered.

Cut now to 2011, Elle has been awarded two subject prizes from Northampton High School UK as the most outstanding student in two subjects, one in Politics, the other Classical Civilization, the latter being the subject of her studies at Leeds’s University.

Makes you think that maybe her Italian visit gave her a life direction, and such opportunities exist for many children to follow their dreams just needs enthusiasm, recognition and dedication. We shall see……………..

Myrea’s Autumn Reflections

The Autumn/Fall colors remind me of these magical moments as I reflected a summer past in the lake at The Enchanted Manor on the Isle of Wight what fond memories I have.

Nothing happens unless first a Dream

It is so enlightening to know that the first two books that helped me on my artistic career and bought together  a World of Faery Friendship and a huge diverse worldwide following, ‘Art of Faery’, and ‘World of Faery’, written and compiled by David Riche with forewords by Alan Lee (WoF) and Brian Froud (AoF) are about to be republished as soft-back books by Collins and Brown part of Anova Group this December.World of Faery and Art of Faery

Flying the Flag for Fairy Art

I am so often asked about standing alone on the Fourth plinth in London’s Trafalgar square. The experience was awesome to be a part of this Anthony Gormley Art exhibition. I think my fear was it might rain, as it was I had to pull out of my original date because my husband had to have an emergency heart operation that date had fine weather. The organizers very kindly accepted the extenuating circumstances of my cancellation and gave me a new date 8 September, it was in fact my husbands birthday and only three weeks after a quadruple heart bypass, but it was a nice day, and tiring as it was for him David was able to take these photographs of me. Probably my happiest thought was being up there and him snapping away below, it seemed like a double achievement. I have been so grateful to everyone involved to make that happen

Hail Hayle

Amazing how popping in for a dress fitting with my artist friend Julie Carter who has been making one of her special designed themed dresses for me turned out to be more than I expected. Julie had nearly completed the dress, it probably helped as both she and I have similar figure measurements. I went with my brother and sister and my niece Storme (5) and David my husband to Hayle, in Cornwall, where she lives with Terry. One thing led to another, and before I knew what was happening we were in a photo-shoot that lasted well over a couple of hours. These ones are photos of David’s, I am still waiting to see those Terry filmed, can’t wait. We had a wonderful day, the time just flew by and the dress was completed before I left and so I took it with me, Thank you Julie! x

Penguins Beach in London

What a great day out in London, the zoo gave me the urge to go back again to the Amazon where I saw so many of these wonderful creatures in their natural surroundings. Gorillas fascinate, monkeys tease, Camels give you the hump, Spongebob gets into the Aquarium, Spiders make you squirm, bugs make you itch, Butterflies buzz and tinkle, Tigers terrify, Lions Roar, Komodo dragons to be feared, Giraffes get hungry, Pelicans ready to feed, and Penguins happy in their new ‘Beach’ enclosure just opened.
Come rain or shine a first at the London Zoo for Me, my sister Michell, and little niece Storme with Grandad David taking most of the photos and being in a few himself. We finished up just checking on Sherlock Holmes and his friend, flatmate, and assistant Dr. John H Watson at 221b Baker Street London

Elle to study Classical Civilization

My youngest daughter Elle succeeded with her A level results to be accepted into Leeds University. I am so proud of the efforts and support of all her tutors, and thank them, from Bob Buntine at Delapre, her middle school headmaster who enthused her academically to reach Northampton High School for Girls, and the encouragement of the amazing teaching staff at the High School. The support and encouragement of Michael Ellis our MP for Northampton North and meeting Eric Pickles the Conservative Party Chairman helped so much her interest to achieve A’s in her final Politics papers. Thank you again and Congratulations Elle! XX

Christmas Fairies

Christmas doesn’t seem so far away and is creeping into my thoughts and discussions, particularly after this lovely week out in the countryside seeing and picking the ripening fruit and the mass of red berries and mistletoe on the apple trees. My thoughts always turn to what I might make as this years decorations and what to wear to parties especially those that require a theme. I remember at one festival I was in conversation at the bar downstairs when I was cajoled by someone to join them, and found myself on stage in a competition. Thank goodness my friend and fairy sister, Priscilla from Barcelona was there to encourage me, she is used to performing on stage with her wonderful singing of her musical compilations. Still by the time the result was announced all was forgiven shown by my tears of joy that my outfit was appreciated. I was so happy that I was sent his little video excerpt to remember and share with others.
